“Peace. It does not mean being in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart”

Lakhan Bali
Registered Social Worker
When we face a challenge in life, we can experience a range of feelings, such as hopelessness, anxiety, sadness, disruption, and loneliness. It can be really difficult to seek help. Perhaps we have our own personal and cultural views regarding seeking help, or we are afraid of being vulnerable. I commend you for taking the first brave step of looking for help. In my practice, I strive to create a safe, trauma-informed, and culturally-sensitive space where you can safely share your emotions, thoughts, and challenges without fear of feeling judged and having professional help. Together, we will work through your challenges using evidence-based therapeutic modalities, and consider social determinants of health that can affect our emotions as well. I am confident things can get better when we combine both of our capabilities.
Little about me, I am a second-generation Punjabi Canadian and I grew up in Rexdale, a culturally and socioeconomically diverse area. I have experienced mental health, stigma, and socioeconomic challenges in my own family and community, which led to my joining the field of Social Work. I hold a Master’s Degree from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Mental Health and Health. I have over 5 years of experience supporting people with psychosocial challenges.
As for personal interests, I love eating pizza, watching Bollywood movies, listening to hip-hop, weightlifting, cycling, and playing with my Rottweiler dog. I am excited to learn more about you as we work together.
